Purpose
WebDetective is a local, user-directed website investigation workbench. It observes
HTTP responses, redirects, technology signals, TLS, accessibility and site posture
for sites the operator is authorized to investigate. These observations are not
a certification that a website is safe. It is not an AI training crawler.

Identity and scope
Only operator-controlled installations with an explicitly configured signing key
can present this signed identity. Keys are not included in distributed packages.
Signed identity mode is limited to public HTTPS requests and GET/HEAD collection.
It honors robots.txt policy, destination pacing and server backoff. Access denials
are coverage gaps; verification is not permission to bypass a site's controls.
Browser observations can be limited when redirects cannot be signed safely.
Separate unsigned local investigation features do not claim this bot identity.

Site owners may contact the operator to report traffic, request exclusion or ask
about an observation. Include the URL, time and observed user agent where possible.
No scan results or scanned page content are hosted by this identity service.
